Zhangjiajie is a wizardly city in the northwestern part of Hunan province in China.

Local Tourist Attractions:

The Wulinyuan Scenic and Historic Interest Area comprises the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, the Tianzishan mountain ranges, BaoFengHu and the Suoxi Valley, and is a very popular filming and tourist destination.
Also in the Zhangjiajie area, Huanglongdong and Longwangdong are caves known for many natural rock formations (much like Wulingyuan) and its underground cataract.

Natural Wonders

Huangshizhai

Located at an elevation of 1300 meters, it is the biggest sightseeing platform in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park,which is 30 kilometers away from Zhangjiajie Lotus Airport

There is a local saying goes that he who does not reach Huangshizhai does not pay a true visit to Zhangjiajie. There are a couple of distinctive spots along the sightseeing route, such as Tian Shu Bao Xia (a sealed book& a treasury box), Nan Tian Yi Zhu (pillar of southern sky), Front Garden, Jin Gui Tan Hai (golden tortoise exploring the sea), etc

The sunrise, clouds and fogs are spectacular scenery in Huangshizhai. When standing on the platform in the morning or after rain, you will see mist-shrouded mountains, which look like a fairyland.

Visitors can climb from the front gate or take the cableway to the top of mountain.

Pathway on the Cliffs

Located in Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park, the Pathway on the cliffs (Guiguzhandao) is steep and lofty, 1,600 meters long and 1400 meters above sea level;. It starts from Yihongguan and ends in Small Tianmen. Different from other pathways on the cliffs which lie in the top or the side of cliffs, it hangs in the middle of cliffs. You’ll feel that you are moving with the cliffs.But I'm sure that it is safe enough and numerous tourists have experienced it.

As Tianmen Mountain is endowed with abundant vegetation and typical karst geological landform, you can find a feeling here that you are taking a helicopter in tropical rain forest.

Baofeng Lake

In all attractions of Zhangjiajie, Baofeng Lake is the only one scenic area dominated by waters of lake. Located in Suoxiyu Nature Reserve of Wulingyuan, the lake is regarded as the place where fairy mother goddess lives in, boasting fanscinating scenery. It is a rare high gorges lake and embraced by surrounding mountains, covering an area of 30 hectares, with a depth of 72 meters. Lying in mountains, the Baofeng Lake is filled by streams and springs without pollution.Hot sights around the Baofeng Lake include Jin Gui Chi Yue(Golden Turtle Biting the Moon), Kong Chue Kai Ping (Peacock Displaying Colorful Feathers), Yi Xian Tian (One Line Gorge), Fairy Lady In the Lake, and so on. Another famous attraction here is called Ying Wo Zhai “Hawk Nest Village”, known for its difficulty of access, which is a mountain standing 1,000 meters above sea level. To reach there, you must climb stone stairs that are built between steep cliffs.

Golden Whip Stream

Located in northwestern Hunan province, central China, the famous tourist city Zhangjiajie is home to China's first forest park - Zhangjiajie National Forest Park.
The forest park was approved as a national park in 1982. Ten years later it was included on the UNESCO's World Heritage List for its unique "peak forests of quartz sandstone". And then, in 2004, it was branded as one of the world's geological parks.
Home to 23 species of rare animals and over 3,000 species of plants, the park can be seen as a giant botanic showcase and an oxygen bar.
Besides abundant natural resources, the park is also famous for its beautiful and unique scenery.
There are many famous scenic spots in Zhangjiajie, including the Baofeng Lake, the Huanglong Cave (Asia's largest cave), and many beautiful waterfalls and brooks. But the most attractive scene is the mysterious groups of mountains covered with dense, primeval forests.
There are 243 lofty pillar-peaks, with each over 1,000 meters high, often laced in mist and clouds. Standing together, the peaks look like soldiers in an enormous battle array.
